G34. Edmund COLCHESTER was born in Feb 1810.19 He died in 1857.28
The Ipswich Journal of 9 October 1841 recorded that he qualified as a surgeon: "On Friday, the 1st inst. Mr Edmund Colchester of this place was admitted a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, in London."25
From the a letter between John Kirby Moore and Lord Ashburnham, both of whom we think were on the board of the Ipswich Hospital, refers to a new election for the board of the Ipswich Hospital: "The candidate (I believe there is but one) is I think a relation of a very respectable family formerly living at Needham of the same name Colchester". Obviously John Moore held our family in high esteem! Edmund was listed in White's Directory for 1844 as a surgeon at the East Suffolk Hospital.19

He was married to Emily DOBSON 1845 in Ipswich.28 She was born in about 1824 in Ipswich.44 She died in 1885 in Isle of Wight.28
The marriage was recorded by the Ipswich Journal on 3 May 1845: "Married 29 ult. at St Peter's Church, Ipswich Edmund Colchester, Esqr surgeon, of West Bromwich in Staffordshire, to Emily, 2nd daughter of Mr Edward Dobson, of Ipswich".25
At the time of the 1881 census she was staying at Thorpe Road, Peterborough, Northampton with Caroline Nicholson.44
