Joseph COLCHESTER was born on 13 Jan 1752 in Barking, Suffolk and was buried there in Nov 1806.8 Joseph was a baker in St Austin Street Ipswich.13 The Ipswich Journal of 15 November 1806 records "Monday last died aged 53 Mr Joseph Colchester of Needham Market and late of Ipswich".2 He was married to
Elizabeth TYDEMAN in 1781 obtaining a marriage licence on 7 Jan 1781.2 She was baptised on 12 Jun 1761 in Barking, Suffolk and was baptised with the name of Betty, although she used the name Elizabeth on the marriage licence of 7 January 1781 for Barking. We know from the licence that she was single when she married, and her father and mother were Martin and Elizabeth Tydeman. She was the sixth of at least six children and her father was a blacksmith in Needham Market at 108 High Street.14,15
