A9 viii Agnes Colchester was born before 1500. In his will her father Thomas left her 40 shillings which Christian had to pay as a condition for receiving a tent called Baldwynes. This is the only reference we have to her at present and from this we know that she married a SMYTHE, but what his relationship is to William Smythe who married her sister Christian Colchester we do not know. There is also the chance that we have misunderstood things entirely, and that Agnes Smythe is actually a sister in law to Christian Smythe nee Colchester.1
